Manufacturers’ News, Inc. (MNI), based in Evanston, Illinois, is the nation’s oldest and largest compiler and publisher of state manufacturers directories and databases. Its flagship publication, the Illinois Manufacturers Directory, dates back to 1912. MNI began compiling information on Indiana manufacturers in 1981, and has been publishing the Indiana Manufacturers Directory annually since 1982. The company now keeps tabs on all 400,000 U.S. manufacturing establishments, and is the only publisher of industrial directories for all 50 states.

No other publisher or list compiler offers such an in-depth profile of every manufacturing plant, large and small. MNI not only provides key contact information (address, phone, fax, e-mail) about each company, but also lists company executives by name and title, exact number of employees, annual sales, detailed business description, year established and much more.

MNI’s 60-person editorial staff scours yellow pages, chamber of commerce lists, new business registrations, trade journals, newspapers and financial reports to pinpoint every manufacturing establishment in Indiana and the entire U.S. Then each manufacturer is contacted by phone and asked up to thirty questions. Once a listing has been established, each manufacturer is contacted annually to update and ensure accuracy of its profile. The company makes over 400,000 phone calls and mails more than 1.5 million pieces each year to ensure that the information is up to date.
